Re: Programming, computers, etc. [Serious]
There's a logic flaw in your code. It doesn't account for "excellent" or "expert". ;) I'm okay with programming. I also saw that GameMaker isn't the only one that has little to no coding involved, so there would still be several options. I thought Godot looked interesting, so I downloaded that last...

Re: Programming, computers, etc. [Serious]
Thanks, lunar! I'll take a look at it! Edit: Of course, now I've found a lot of other cool new frameworks and engines and such... I think I just need to pick one and get going on it. How's your regular programming skills? If(skills == "good"){ return "read up maybe an article on each, pick the one ...

Say I wanted to make a fairly basic 2D side scroller. What game development platforms would you recommend? I have Clickteam Fusion from a recent Humble Bundle thing, and there's also Unity and other popular environments. There are also other things like Pygame for Python game development, etc. I ju...

Re: ASDF Forums 10th Year Anniversary
Happy anniversary everybody! I used to be a frequent regular here many years ago and although I left after only 3 or so years I've never forgotten my first home on the internet. I'm glad to see both familiar faces and some new ones around. I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe in these try...

Re: Programming, computers, etc. [Serious]
I'm glad you're back! Trying to learn some C++ as my friends and I are trying to make a game in Unreal Engine for fun. It's a lot to wrap my head around, but C++ reminds me a lot of C. More so than C# or Java. I actually prefer C# to Java, but that's just a preference thing and probably because Vis...

Wow, thanks for the detailed answer! I still find it weird, but I kinda understand now. The odd thing is that from what I can tell, you're not actually required to have any form of identification, not even a SSN (?), (I mean you probably have an SSN, you might have a state ID, you might have a pass...

Re: Programming, computers, etc. [Serious]
Is C as hard as Java? I don't speak C, but it's a much lower-level language than java, and as far as I know a lot more simplistic (C++ is a more evolved version of it). So my guess is that it is difficult. You've gotta manage memory stuff on your own. Whereas in managed languages like java and C#, ...

Re: Programming, computers, etc. [Serious]
Sorry to derail, but does anyone here have any experience with Arduino code? Specifically for servo operation. I have a decent code written (just the part that'll allow me to make the wheels go spin, the QTI sensors aren't set yet) and I was hoping maybe someone could see if there's a way to simpli...
