Re: The Daily Thread
Not even TCP/IP?
By the way, today during my lunch break I was browsing portableapps.com, to see what apps I would put on my own PortableApps suite. The idea is that you can have a suite of applications on your thumb drive, cloud drive, etc., and use them on any Windows computer, preserving the same settings, etc. Everything is maintained within the PortableApps environment, so it doesn't put any settings files, etc. on the computer you're using.
You can do other things, though, with the way it's set up. For example, I downloaded GIMP Portable the other day because I needed to do some quick photo editing. I installed it to my desktop, and voila! Instant GIMP contained in a folder on my desktop. When I'm done, I just delete the folder and the setup program, and it's as though GIMP was never on my computer. Perfect for apps that you don't use very often but might use every once in a while. They tend to be on the small size, too, so it's not too much trouble to download them. It's also a good way to try a lot of open source software before you commit to it.
No, I don't work for the company. I just like the concept behind it. I found out about it years ago, when I got a thumb drive that came with something similar (but worse). So I Googled alternatives, and liked what I found.

Today my friends helped me work through the largest-scale mental parabola I've ever had. It was filled with many other parabolas but I got to the point where it's just like "fuck that shit", I mean it's still there, but I accept that, and I'm no longer working against myself.
The only things that have ever been relevant? 1) I love my friends 2) All this music is so amazing 3) October 26th and all that followed.

Re: The Daily Thread
It's finally hitting sotorm season here, and all the crazy outbreaks this week have been a blast (well, not for those who got slammed by the worst tornados...). I am running a 50 mile radius around my city during events to chase, and later this season I will be riding out with one of the more famous chasers around Oklahoma to go chasing. He is my freaking hero, and we're are going to get up close and personal. He's the type who gets 100ft from a tornado, causing his vehicle to get slammed into a ditch, or stops right under a huge hail core so he can pick up softball or greater sized hail, or punches right through a rainwrapped cell, regardless of the fact that there is probably a tornado sitting on the other side of the curtain... Needless to say, I'm scared, but super excited. This will be my first official chase, so it's gunna be a good one
Come read my new book coming out soon!

Re: The Daily Thread
I went to the eye-doctor to get contacts and glasses. The glasses will come in two weeks or so but I couldn't get the contacts since I couldn't put 'em on. I have to try again in a few weeks. Any tips?
