As for sandwiches: I prefer a medium thickness, with a fluffy firmness. Preferably wholewheat, but depending on the sauce I wouldn't say no to white bread.
It definitely should hold the sauce instead of absorbing it and getting soggy.

I've been making this bread a lot lately (mostly bc it's easy) but generally speaking I get the 70 cent bread from Aldi because most sandwich bread tastes the same

Favawith a nice Chianti. I've also been doing well. No Man's Sky has overtaken my life, and at the prompting of this thread I now know I can make bread in it :D

I imagine there must be a number of survival games where making bread is possible.
But you can have an entire mill and bakery business in Mount&Blade Warband.
