Re: The Daily Thread
We're planning on checking it out, actually! We bought the special glasses, to be safe lol
Sadly, it won't be a full eclipse apparently. We might be able to catch the full thing, but we'd have to drive a few hours which is a pain. It's also a bit late to do that now, since it's starting damn soon.

Desktop definitely reigns supreme above then all. Unless you destroy that whole aesthetic with 3 metric tons of RGB lightingFroggychum wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 9:55 pmMy ranking (worst to best):

But I'll judge you. Vehemently.
...
Unless of course that PC doubles as a popcorn maker to complete the carnival theme. Then all is forgiven.
(Adorable "new" pfp by the way, frog.)

I love desktop PCs
I wish I could carry them to my college
each wire, each accessory.

dude one of my classes has one of those in their backroom and I was allowed to be back there, so I just put my laptop on there and I'm like 30% more effective when I'm using it

Re: The Daily Thread
You guys are overlooking the simplest solution:
Just carry the desktop PC. It's not that heavy. SMH my head. Kids these days are too soft. I will make these kids hard.

this generation is doomed
giving excuses is just procrastinating
they won't carry a desktop with them but they'll carry that laptop which melts their thighs

I've generally been.. uh. Alright? Work and my house keep me busy as ever, rising world tensions keep my on my toes due to my job, and inflation is certainly reducing my ability to afford stuff.
But I'm content.
Which is good.
You can technically turn a desktop computer into a mobile platform. Attach some mounting hooks for one or two straps, two to four velcro straps to secure your cables, and maybe use some free space in that casing to attach a battery or suitable powerbank to power everything.
Let's refrain from mounting the monitor to the case with 2 to 3 hinges, because then it's just a really bulky and cumbersome laptop haha

Re: The Daily Thread
I'm glad your doing alright!
Wise people generally say attitude is the key to happiness. I'm inclined to believe them.
I've been working on my attitude for a while. I'm definitely happier on average than I was a few years ago, but I'm still not sure if I'm content.
I don't envy you though, since I can surely have that too. I just need to keep trying until I get there. Though, my pessimistic self tells me I'll die still miserable - no good comes from listening to that.
Now that I'm 21 I've started paying a bit more attention to world news. It's scary stuff out there.
The main thing that is so bizarre for me to think about is how most people in the world have a far inferior quality of life to my own. It makes me feel a bit more grateful for what I have (I still have many complaints, of course), but also makes me see just how unfair the world is to so many of us.
Speaking of affordability - this is insane. Prices for groceries have basically doubled in my lifetime. Every week when we buy food, I seriously try to understand what people below the poverty line eat? Do they eat? I don't know, the math doesn't add up. My mum tells me even in Canada people suffer malnutrition and go hungry - and it's hard for me to wrap my head around, I guess.
