Re: The Daily Thread
A company called me today to schedule an interview for a job for after I graduate. If they want to hire me, it'll make 3 companies that want me. Each of them has several good points. It's one of those really hard decisions in life.
"Where do you want to work and live for the next several years? Oh yeah, you'll probably have to raise your kids there, too."
I hate hard decisions.

I'm sure you'll figure out which one is best.
What kind of companies are they btw?

Re: The Daily Thread
So here's the good news: if you pick a place and don't like it after a while, you can always move. I know this because I've moved 5 times since graduating trying to find the right place to live. I think I finally found a place where I want to stay, but who knows if that will be the case a year from now. If you've got 3 job offers then you're probably a talented individual so there is likely work available for you where you want to be.

"What for?" as in "Why?" or as in "What do they translate?"
As for why: Because it's what interests me.
As for what they translate: A bunch of stuff. Video games, websites, posters, instruction manuals. It's actually a pretty booming business.

Re: The Daily Thread
Today I played Pokemon Black
It's awesome, and I've got a fairly decent battle team already.
Also, translations interest me. I guess it's my plan b for a career, I consider myself pretty good with languages

Re: The Daily Thread
For what I do, I can do any language. I handle some of the more technical elements. I prepare things for translation, and make sure the translation process goes smoothly (for example, I make sure the formatting isn't messed up, at least too badly, in translation). I also determine what will be required for certain jobs, depending on what the client needs, such as graphics editing, proofreading, etc.
I don't do any of the translation myself, but if I did, it would be between Spanish and English.
And I'm jealous, Arkannine. I don't have Black yet, but I want to get it soon.

Re: The Daily Thread
I had my first bass lesson today
my teacher is cool and has a nose ring and tattoos and a chain and an Invader Zim shirt and he is lenient so I don't have to practice a whole lot and he will let me learn whatever song I want..
though I think i am permanently damaged with paranoia and expect people to scold me when i do something NOT PERFECT because of my previous experience in having musical instruction, D: , so I am always uncomfortable, but it is cool so I can actually have fun with the music and not be forced to play the same page for a month or more to improve technique...
my teacher actually said I was moving along pretty fast
so what do y'all think I should learn to play? my mom wants me to play Lithium but I have been thinking about maybe later The Width Of A Circle or Clocks or Fortress or Stairway To Heaven

Re: The Daily Thread
Unfortunately I don't remember too many songs I'd find cool to play in the bass atm... But I wish I had one so I could like record myself playing electric guitar and then bass guitar and then singing and edit them all together and I'd be a one man band without drums. That'd be cool. Hmm, maybe if I get some pans and a pencil I can make some drums...
Also, that b!+# Pokemon Black won't let me use my hard-earned (not really) Victini in the battle subway just because it's a legendary. W/e, I need to find a 4th battle team member anyway...
Also, I'm interested in FCs for trading and battling and stuff. Mine is 4384 1280 4950 .
EDIT: So I was just lurking the GTS looking for good deals, ese, and I got an extra Victini (I love Victini) for the measly price of 1 Pansage (crappy pokemon) and guess what? I just noticed it came with PokeRus

I could probably give you PokeRus if you wanted. Probably still got a contaminated one on my Pearl. Doesn't really do anything though.

- Pronouns: Well it shouldn't really be that complicated if you go over my post history but then... why are you searching through my post history? Don't you think you are over complicating something as simple as just referring to me? Why are you like this? Is it just out of boredom? Does your religion require it? You could just assume them and skip all this paragraph, don't worry an eldritch horror won't appear out of nowhere to eat you (or me for that matter) if you get this wrong, the worst that can happen is I ignore you and even in that case you can try again! There shouldn't be that many options anyway so if you get it wrong the first time try again and again. Bottom line is: you just lost a bunch of time reading this paragraph for something as trivial as figuring out how to refer to me when you could just have deduced it which should make you think your life choices so far.

Nirvana's Lithium? That's cool, in that kind of Nirvana's songs the bass is the one leadingasdfkumquat wrote:I had my first bass lesson today

Stairway To Heaven and Clocks are not that hard, I haven played any of them but I can hear it, they are not hard, and less Clocks

Nah, I'll be okay. It does do something, though. It doubles the "Effort Values" earned while it has the virus. In other words, it grows slightly faster while infected.Flying Sheep wrote:I could probably give you PokeRus if you wanted. Probably still got a contaminated one on my Pearl. In other words, nothing. Takes me like half hour to an hour to fully EV train a pokemon.Anonymously Famous wrote:Nah, I'll be okay. It does do something, though. Re: The Daily Thread
You sure? 'Cause with the Macho brace doubling the EVs, and 510 EVs for max, fighting a pokemon that grants 2 EV's with the Macho Brace multiplying by 2 is 4 EV's/pokemon, that's 127,5 pokemon you have to defeat, rounding it to 128 because you can't fight half a pokemon, and dividing 128 by 30 minutes that's 4,2 battles per minute which is a battle every 14,2 seconds...Flying Sheep wrote:In other words, nothing. Takes me like half hour to an hour to fully EV train a pokemon.
So you'd have to be pretty fast to train it in a half hour, at optimal conditions, since most pokemon only give 1 EV (I accounted for 2) and not everyone has the macho brace (I considered it), so without those two the numbers of battles needed would quadruplicate, making you need, ultimately, to defeat 17 Pokemon/minute...
