Or for solving quadractic equations on the form of Ax² + Bx - C...
The 2 in the end was actually a typo for 2a, so it's the same..

it makes calculations easier. and all you have to do is add friction to the path equation and then you have a new equation modelling the actual path. also, I suggest you read this.
