I haven't tried to be honest... I just put my CDs on to iTunes and sync my iPod...
But there's better music players that can play most of those...

it's Free Lossless Audio Codec.. way better quality than the mp3, and bigger too. (can't really hear the difference on my crappy soundcard+crappy speakers though, but for traveling I use a good pair of headphones)
