Multi-dimensional experience query
So there is this thing in movie theaters they've been doing for a while, that the movie jumps in your face by use of some wizardry.
I've only been to such a display once, and right after an opening of one of the first 3d cinemas here, so they showed some bullpoop movie that was probably made just to experiment with 3d. It was awful, and I wasn't blown away by the visuals either.
Should I give it another try now? How has 3d evolved? Is it worth it?
I want to watch The Martian because I've recently read the book and it was cool. But the 2d screenings here are all dubbed, and I hate that.

Re: Multi-dimensional experience query
I don't like 3d movies because I wear glasses and I don't like wearing a second pair on top. From what I've heard though, it's not bad if the movie was made for 3d screens and it's not something done just to demonstrate the technology. So basically if the movie's good 3d should enhance the experience. I still don't like them though because they're just not comfortable for me.

Re: Multi-dimensional experience query
welp, I also wear glasses. I now remember it being a bit uncomfortable.
I also remember that I didn't like that the focus was always chosen for me, in a proper movie you don't always have to look at what's in the foreground. Now the director doesn't just suggest where to look, they effectively force you to look at the main thing (?).
Anyways, I'll probably have to wait to see the movie in 2D, then.

but time is a dimension?
and acting skill is more than one dimension?
also, number of pigs in a particular movie is a dimension.

Re: Multi-dimensional experience query
It can be looked at as a spacial dimention, In the same way you can see a 2d, slice of a 3d object, we are a 3d slice of our 4d object. Theoretically. It could be that we exist from life to death, in an almost amorphous blob, but all we can see of each other is the 3d slice. This doesn't imply fate or time of death, we could be a moving blob based on all of our decisions and other things, but who knows.atomtengeralattjaro wrote:but time is a dimension?

- Pronouns: Well it shouldn't really be that complicated if you go over my post history but then... why are you searching through my post history? Don't you think you are over complicating something as simple as just referring to me? Why are you like this? Is it just out of boredom? Does your religion require it? You could just assume them and skip all this paragraph, don't worry an eldritch horror won't appear out of nowhere to eat you (or me for that matter) if you get this wrong, the worst that can happen is I ignore you and even in that case you can try again! There shouldn't be that many options anyway so if you get it wrong the first time try again and again. Bottom line is: you just lost a bunch of time reading this paragraph for something as trivial as figuring out how to refer to me when you could just have deduced it which should make you think your life choices so far.
