Let's start with a big one, I finished Grade 12 in Highschool. However, I didn't actually graduate. In Canada, Highschool ends after Grade 12 with graduation, but I did not attend. The reason for this is that I still require exactly 1 credit to be eligible for my diploma.
This isn't because I failed any courses, it was a conscious decision I made with my family and the school. My brother made the same choice.
We basically decided to take less than the regular amount of courses in a year for Grade 11, this was so we would have less stress at school. It's a pretty cool thing you can do... also, I believe since I have a diagnosed disability, I technically have until I am ~25 years old to finish high school (which I find a bit absurd, but I guess it's always an option).
The only issue with this is that I now have to fill my time table with more or less random courses... Our school has been cutting a lot of programs recently, so I'm likely to get cruddy classes.
Since there is a pandemic, our school offered the ability for students to engage in virtual learning rather than attending school. Our family took this path, because we believe it's more safe. So far, the website they use hasn't given me any courses yet, but my brother got his a couple days ago. So I'm a bit confused, lol.
They've also changed a lot of the rules for how school works. Instead of having two semesters to take our courses, we now have four 'quadmesters' (I know, the name is utterly genius (that was sarcasm)). I've also not seen my time table yet, because I can't log in to the school website (seperate from the one we use for day-to-day learning)
Anyway, school is new for me, so that's all I have to say about it. Not looking forward to it, I'll probably have to start wearing a shirt because they do this thing called Synchronous Learning, where we have to have our webcam on at a specific time (probably before I normally wake up, so that will make me tired as hell)
However, the biggest thing in my life right now is a huge, epic project that I started a while ago... IIRC, I started this project last school year... I don't remember if I was still using ASDF at the time, but it's possible the two things intersected for a short period.
Anyway, this project is basically my attempt at constructing an entire fictional universe and game system. I'm constantly adding stuff, and changing things I don't like... but overall it's probably my biggest work ever, and genuinely something I would call 'my life's work' (for now, at least).
It's reached a point where it's over 500 pages (not counting the high resolution images I've made), but there are also many more notes for ideas or fixes that I haven't implemented yet! I reckon when it's done (if I ever get there), it will be AT LEAST 1000 pages, perhaps 2000 pages!
I would share more, but that would utterly glut this thread, and I also don't want to share too much, because I'm wary of it being stolen (I don't really plan on publishing it, but I've still only shared it with my brother, and to a lesser extent with my mom). I don't really think any of you would take it, but I don't know for sure. Also, this is a forums, so I'm aware that many possibly malicious bots peruse here often, and I don't find it farfetched that a bot may spot my work and that could lead to it being stolen.
A couple more things about it: The scope of what it covers is immense, I mean, I feel like it blends mechanics and flavor really well (though I'm aware that the system is not playtested, and probably stinks like roadkill). It's also allowed me to learn a lot of stuff, such as research on various types of trees that would be appropriate for my setting. Additionally, I've started researching how to conlang, because my world has over fifty languages that I need to create!
For my third piece of info, I'm just going to give a bunch of other news to y'all, since those were the main two things in my life:
1. My computer is having some tech problems, such as the mouse being shoddy, and the keyboard often failing to type on google docs and microsoft notepad.
2. My beloved cat (who I now call my 'best buddy') is getting on in his years (IIRC he's about 10 years old), so the family has begun taking extra steps to ensure he lives for many more healthy years <3
(in fact, yesterday we played with him for hours, and brought all his toys in... then we realized it's september, which is when we normally celebrate his birthday... so in a way we inadvertently celebrated his birthday, LOL! Hmm... I think that means he's actually 11 now... yikes)
3. I've gotten into DND, and it's my biggest hobby at the moment! I've stopped playing Magic the Gathering, as well...
4. My mom and I still fight a lot, and I still don't like her at all.
Anyway, I think that's everything I have to say, if I come up with more stuff, I may edit this post (I'll make it clear what was added in).
Thanks for reading!
