The Beginning
For a long period since their original incarnation, vampires had lived in balance with humanity, constantly and beneficially sucking the dirty blood of low-lifes and ridding humanity of its worst. Occasionally vampire hunters sympathetic to the lowly victims armed themselves with wooden stakes, garlic, and silver and took after the vampires but these brave folks only soon joined the noble race.
Near the turn of the 22nd century, tibetan monks infected with vampirism sought to control their desire for blood. They sated the lust with meditation, yet it lingered. A lingering that only grew stronger and more demanding, until the flesh of the monks rotted from lack of nourishment and their body started eating their eyes for the meditation proved them unuseful and the very desire for blood drove them absolutely insane. Something changed inside them; something sinister. They were no longer vampires. They were...
of the journey...
Charles looked on weakly towards the horizon. He hadn't had a drop of human blood for nearly half a decade and the cattle tasted absolutely disgusting. All that was left on this planet were the cattle and the zombies - the vampires called them that because they had completely lost control of themselves; they were, by the way, completely inedible - who had consumed or turned all the precious humans that had lived peacefully with the vampires for so long. Rumor has it that somewhere very distant humans still live, still surviving the zombie apocalypse. Charles and his family intended to find these humans and protect them with their lives.

Budd walked by, he was what Charles was, he walked to Charles's house. "Listen, i have a plan." He told Charles. "You and I both know that this cattle is HORRIBLE! So, I found something. It may not taste like the real thing, but it's close. It's your choice." Budd said, him and Charles were friends, and neighboors. Budd lived with his father, who was rarely ever there, he was usually working.

"I was looking around on the city map and I found a location that might possibly maybe have... MONKEYS! I mean, I've never sucked a monkey before but they look just like humans and taste the same. UGH! Why didn't we cherish sweet, sweet human when we could? I swear, Charles, I'm going to kill each and every last zombie and make the humans reproduce like bunnies. But first... let's try some monkey." Budd suggested enthusiastically.
"Listen, Budd," Charles replied, "You're very young relative to us so I know you're very curious and a bit reckless. This plan, however, IS BEYOND THAT! Look where the zoo is: the middle of the city! And we've already seen that dogs and wolves can be infected by the zombie virus. Image if a crocodile is infected, or a tiger! No-no-no-no-no."
Budd was already daydreaming about the sweet nectar of monkeys. His eyes looked in the distance; they were on the prize.
"OKAY FINE! If you don't want to taste some good stuff, then I'll go by myself!"
He stormed off to get his coat as Charles stood there knowing this wasn't a good idea.

(don't get too far in character control, it's fine with me, lol. That was what i was going to say, but with humans dead and not infected with the virus yet.)
Budd walked off, he would get those monkeys even if it brought him to the end of the earth. he walked to the zoo, being cautious. He ran as fast as he could, which was around 125 mph. He then jumped into the gates, monkeys here we come. He walked in the zoo, wow so scary. Jeez Charles, you're missing out on this. he walked to the monkey's pen when... they're gone. Budd cursed at the world, then he heard the familiar screeching. he jumped the fence, looking in the next pen. Budd figured they tried to escape, because they were in the crocodile's pen. Budd jumped on one of the aligators and bit down. He sucked all of the blood from it. Disgusting. He was only building up his appetite. Then he drained the next one, until the last one. It turned and faced him, it jumped on his chest and was ready to tear his flesh apart. Budd realized this one was infected. One of the monkeys went over to Budd and went into his pocket. "No, no, no, get away from there." Budd said, he would swat the monkey, but he had to hold an aligator back from biting his chest off. The monkey pulled his knife, he jumped on the aligator and Budd figured the monkey was going to kill him. Instead, it killed the aligator, by stabbing the head, it didn't kill him immediatly, but it got him off of Budd. The monkey dropped the knife and ran from the aligator. Budd grabbed his knife, wiped it off, then jumped on the aligator, infected as he was, he was still weak. Budd stabbed the head as much as he could, killing it. "Hey, you saved my life." Budd said, he knew he wouldn't get a response, but he still said it. The monkey just seemed empty, he just looked around, not even considering what just happened. Budd grabbed the monkey. he opened his mouth, but shut it just as fast. he couldn't kill this monkey, it saved him. "This is crazy" Budd said to himself, indeed, it was.

The monkey's eyes remained intact so it might've only been in its early stages of infection. They stared emptily into the ground, Budd could see. The monkey's scent was caught in the wind - "OH SO DELICIOUS!" Budd thought. Yet, this monkey had a conscience. It saved him, a vampire, and instead killed the crocodile. Also, the monkey could use a knife... how very strange.
Bud looked at the monkey and saw its arm twitching. Wait - no, they were writing! Budd neared himself to the monkey and saw in its hand a rock that left white traces in the cement ground. The traces possessed a pattern: Greetings, friend. I am an experimental organism with the mind of a human and the body of an ape. I am like thi-
The monkey stopped writing as his ears twitched and he sniffed the air... the putrid scent of Zombies.
"AIEIEIEIE!" The monkey screeched and flailed its airs insistently towards one direction.
The scent reached Budd's nose as well, and he could already feel the small earthquake of footprints marching towards them.
"AIEI!" The monkey let out then ran in the direction of the zombies.
"Wait, where are you going monkey!" Budd shouted.
The monkey haltered not and continued in its direction on all fours. Budd, perplexed by the direction the monkey chose, followed inquiringly. Soon they made it to a large metal wall with a small opening. A bunker for the monkey? There was no time to wonder. The first zombie spotted him and rabidly sprinted towards him with the ferocity of a blind rotting humanoid beast. In the opening Budd dove then he heard a loud 'CLANK' and it was dark.

(don't forget about character-controlling!)
Budd grabbed a torch he lit with his mind, and walked down the cavern. "Wait, so you can understand what i am saying?" The monkey nodded. He grabbed the torch and lit a small twig on fire, he then blew the stick out and wrote "Eventually i will be able to talk, but only to you. By saving your life, I will bond with you in a certain way so that i may only talk to you. This may happen in a few days, maybe hours." Budd looked at the monkey, and nodded. They continued down the hall, seeing light in only 30 seconds. The monkey ran ahead, opening the corridor. It was still nighttime, thankfully. Budd looked over and saw his farm, he walked to it, looking at Charles. "YOU BROUGHT A MONKEY WITH YOU!?" Charles screamed. Budd looked at the monkey, then saying "Well, yes?" Budd said. "He saved my life." Budd said, matter-of-factly. Budd sensed something in the atmosphere, and it wasn't the monkey. He looked to his right, and saw a person holding a gun. "HUMAN!" Budd screamed to Charles. The human started shooting the two vampires. Budd fell down, looking at the bullets. Copper. This human obviously didn't know anything about killing a vampire. Budd ran up to him, having little to no fighting experience. He punched the human in the face, then the chest. He didn't want to kill it in front of the monkey, he looked behind him, the monkey nodded. Then looked away. Budd gave him a look. He pulled a wood stake from his belt, then stuck it in the human's chest. He pushed the human back. "You can have him, Charles." Budd said, taking the monkey inside. He lived alone now. His parents were gone. They were trading with the local vampire tribes.

"EEEEEK"The monkey screeched.
It had been trapped in that cage for days and it was HUNGRY. The monkey, in a frenzy of its novel instincts, pushed Charles aside with surprising strength and bit into the fresh human flesh.
"Hey, I want that!" Screamed Charles
The monkey looked at him with starved eyes then suddenly looked embarrassed. It wrote in the dust on the ground "Oh, excuse me. It looks like this body is influencing my mind in certain unprecedented ways. I am rather famished, however. Do you care to share? I do know you're a vampire so you can have the blood and I the flesh."
"Yeah, but me first," replied Charles. "I don't eat the flesh anyways."
After finishing the meal, Budd said rather apathetically "My family is gone."
"What do you mean?" Charles asked.
"They went trading a few days ago and haven't come back yet"
"Comon! They're vampires! What's the worst that could happen to them?"
"They ran into sunlight, got staked, shot in the head with a silver bullet, got their head ripped off, got several major organs simultaneously damaged, or got set on fire."
"Hm... scratch that. We'll go looking for them if they're not back tomorrow. For now, you can stay with me and-" Charles looked questioningly at the monkey and it wrote in the dust 'Dimitri', "-Dimitri the monkey."

"Thanks." he said plainly. He made himself a bed, ignoring the sprawled and disembowled human on the floor. Then, three knocking sounds and a loud BOOM!. Budd dashed out of his newly found room, finding humans with knives and large guns in the house. Budd wasnt seen, so he hid in the closet. Charles and Dimitri weren't so lucky. "Well, we finally found our heads for boss." One snickered. "yeah, merchants would KILL to get their hands on these ones." "Like the other ones. What about the monkey?" "Bah. Blow his brains out, I don't care. Hey, even keep him as your pet." Budd listened closer to what they were saying, paying attention to the 'other ones' part. Without thinking, he grabbed a knife from a cabinet and dashed out of cover. He threw the knife in between the humans eyes, taking him down instantly. The others shot, but they missed. He snapped one's neck, using his gun to kill 2 others. The last one stabbed his knife out with amazing speed. Budd took it, then bit his arm, throwing him down later. He held the human up by his neck, letting his claws dig in a little to his neck, then said. "What about the 'other ones'." The human spat on Budd, then said. "To hell, I ain't tellin' you." "So be it." Budd said. He ripped the arm off the human, not even thinking about the violence. The human wailed in pain. He then said, between choking sounds, "Fine, we took in two vamps. They're in the town hall, on display." "Are they dead!?" Budd snarled. "N-No, last I checked." The human said. His arm was gushing out blood, Budd threw the human out the window, to bleed out and die.

"The town.. center of it, I was only there once." Budd said, stacking his jacket up with various guns, knives, and stakes taken from the humans. "Here." He said, throwing Charles a relvolver. "You in?" He asked, also handing the monkey a small, but weak, pistol.

Random looked outside. The vamps were killing my father. Those idiots. They didn't know about the Resistance, but they would soon. Time to screw with them. Random wasn't going to just waltz in to the midst of the vampires. No. He was going to use his garlic frag and throw it in. Then, he would just hide. Hide until the zombies or the vamps get him. Hell, if he wasn't dead by then, he'd be an enemy of the vamps. But he'd be living the life his newly dead father made for him. He grabbed a couple stakes and chucked the garlic frag in. Maybe that would tick them off. Or maybe it would get him killed. The first one was attacking a monkey. Random put a gas mask on, and the sickly smell of anthrax and garlic wafted through the air. Random was safe. For now.
