Yamato Clan establishes capitol and has control over most all of the minor clans of the Japanese islands.
At this time war has been all you have known and by the conquer and display of military talent now have many clans flying the Yamato flag.....at this point with momentum good and a nice 2 years of rest and training......sights have been turned to China, who scouts have recently reported, are lead by a weak peaceful queen...who has cut the size of the armys in china in half....and has removed the military men from positions of power....and to top it all of...has taken on a foreigners religion!....and now has her large civilian empire praying to this Buddha guy!.....Sun goddess be praised....

Empress Wu Zetian

For 6 years Empress Wu has lead and in that time has placed scholars in power as well as more women.....the military is cut in half for the reasons of peace, Buddhism is being established and being excepted.
but what is not known about Wu Zetian, except by those few who where close to the top of The Empire, is that her climb.....has brutal and harsh.....and filled with betrayals......but she was never caught nor put on trial......for she had found ties to the underground Ninja clans......and thanks to their dark shadow arts helped her climb to power.....
She is unaware of Japanese plans at start......and is in full surprise when Japanese ships land and Samurai poor out.
You are the Elite of these two clans.....ties to the families in whatever way.....and the start of this will be in one of the port villages invaded by the Japanese.....
Samurai - your leading men and helping to over see the fortifications of this Village for more ships to arrive.
Ninjas - your there for stealth and intel grabbing and map drawing and defense placements and soldier counts......and then at some point to return with the info to the Empress.
