Movies [serious]

Post by Flying Sheep » Sun Aug 08, 2010 12:17 am

I'm just curious if we can stay on topic, without spam.

What do you guys think are good and bad movies, what are their pros and cons, and what actor/actresses do you like etc?

I really really really like Blade Runner. you all should watch this movie at some point. it's got Harrison Ford playing a cop that kills replicants who escape, which are clones made to do labour. one of the best sci-fi movies ever imo. another really good movie is Silence of the Lambs. Anthony Hopkins' performance as Hannibal Lecter is a good enough reason to watch it (although there's tons more good reasons).

There are too many great movies for me to remember them all, but among my favorites that I can think of at the moment are:

The Breakfast Club
2001: A Space Odyssey
Ghostbusters
Singin' In The Rain
Clue
A League of Their Own
Groundhog Day
The Hunt For Red October
Weird Science
Mary Poppins
The Big Chill

As evidenced by my favorite movies, among my favorite actors are Tom Hanks, Bill Murray, Tim Curry, and Sean Connory. My favorite actresses include Sigourney Weaver, Julia Roberts, Julie Andrews, Judi Dench, and Maggie Smith (I dig the older English chicks for some reason).

I'm not actually into movies that much, and I don't watch that many movies. There is an old Merlin movie that I like however, it's pretty long, and it's sorta interesting. It has Sam Neill and Helena Bonham Carter in it though.

assdef, those are all great movies. I love them too but you forgot a couple:

Caddy Shack
Starship Troopers (only the first one, the others sucked)
the original Dawn Of The Dead
Cheech and Chong's "Up In Smoke"
Cheech and Chong's "Nice Dreams"
Star Wars Episodes 4-6
Hustlin 24-7

Yeh, Star Wars 4-6 were the best, because they were original and had a good story line. But then 1-3 sorta ruined imo.

Hahah, yeh.

I like the Lord of the Rings. imo, it's one of the only trilogies where the movies are as good as the books.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. Also, Silence of the Lambs is great - I still remember the first time I saw it. It is like the perfect mystery-thriller film.

Has anyone ever seen Hiding Out with Jon Cryer? For some reason I really like that movie and it wasn't until recently that it was released on DVD because it bombed commercially and wasn't very good but I guess there's something about movies about high school that I've always liked.

Also, what about Brain Donors? I nearly pissed myself laughing the first time I saw that.

Have you guys seen Troy? Lots of fighting and stuff, and depicts the battle for the Ancient city of Troy. It has Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, and Eric Bana in it.

It's not a bad movie. Also, Scott Pilgrim versus The World, I think that's what it's called. It's a new movie coming out, doesn't look too bad.

Ah, and I'm guessing he does sorta retarded movies or something judging on what Thinger said?
