I've been doing a little information digging recently, and found that pokemon 731 is related to the Lavender Town rumors. Interestingly enough,

Japanese video game that causes suicide around an area with a pokemon known only as pokemon 731 and then Unit 371 murders? If you ask me, it's all very suspicious. Unit 731 is real, it was a Japanese death camp that scientists preformed horrible experiments on the people there. There's still some buildings and substantial evidence the US helped cover up the facility's existance in exchange for all the information gathered.
