One Chance - Chaper 1 : First Impressions


The man woke quickly, groggy and with a stinging pain in his arm. The air had the horrible odor of burnt flesh and soot in it and he soon realized why. He was laying in the middle of a rubble field. "Is anyone out there?" he called, "anyone?" but no response was ever awnsered to his call. After pushing a few bricks and some wood off from himself he was able so stand, but just barley. Upon inspection of his arm, he found the words "CX gamer" cut into his skin in jagged letters. He walked through the field slowly, trying to take in what he saw.

There were mangled bodies, some just burnt masses of flesh and some mangled and bloody. All were dead. Except for two. As CX walked through the wreck, he stepped on a board that pressed on something soft that gave out a groan of pain when stepped on. After a mild panic attack and a few seconds of contemplating whether this was a zombie or not, CX pulled boards and bricks from off the body quickly. He brushed off the dust and tapped the person on the face, causing them to stir slightly.

CX pushed down hard on their chest and watched puffs of dust escape their lips before they reached out and grabbed CX's arm tightly. "Stop pushing my chest, or I will rip your arm off," he said grimly. He quickly opened his eyes and stood with the help of CX. He to had a name carved into his arm, Atomtengeralattjaro. Both of them were coved in gray dust that fell when they walked. They talked as they walked along, finding that neither of them could remember their names, or where they had come from, or even where they were. That's when they heard the screaming.

An ear-peircing shreik erupted from behind them when they saw another man holding a hammer, bashing the head off some faceless thing weilding a large knife. The head smashed easily with a splatter of unbleeding flesh that landed all over the surrounding area. The flesh was grey and turned into a dusty substance when the creature was killed. The man slung his hammer over his shoulder and walked over to CX and Atom.

"Do either of you know what the hell is going on?" he asked quickly, "I've been out here for hours bashing these little shits up with this hammer. All I can remember is waking up under a bunch of rubble with the name Shai'tan cut into my arm."

"Well, we've had the same problem, only I have CX gamer cut into my arm and he has Atomtengeralattjaro cut into his. Where'd you get that thing anyway?" CX replied.

"I found it a little ways in that direction, there's three of them. I found a key in my pocket and used it to unlock this cabinet. It's strange, everything is destroyed out here but the cabinet, and it seems as if it couldn't be in a more perfect condition. Follow me," Shai'tan said back quickly. After a few minutes they arrived at a cabinet that looked as if it had just been put down, no dust or rubble on it at all. CX and Atom checked their pockets to find keys, just like the other guy. When they turned them though, the key snapped at it's base when put in and the cabinet door swung open.

CX picked his up first. It was a gleaming weapon, almost new looking. A large hammer that seemed weightless to him, but crushed bricks when he gently put it down. It had BAN written in large capitol letters at the top of it and seemed to almost have a magical feel just holding it. "I guess we'd better get out of here now," Atom said anxiously.

"Why?" CX asked.

"That," Atom said, pointing out a large group of the faceless monsters patrolling the area, and this time they had flamethrowers. At that the three slipped around some junk and dashed off down the path until they were out of the wreckage and on what seemed to be a city, or at least what was one. The street was ripped up and corpses lined the road in piles that were burning.

"I hear something," Shai said.

"I think I hear it too," Atom replied. CX listened carefully and heard what they did, it was a plance, coming in quick. They stayed back long enough to see it gun down about fifty of the faceless cretins before landing. The driver had a face, so he must have been on their side. The door swung open and the driver motioned for them to get in quick. They had no secon thoughts about getting in and were soon up in the air above the smoking mass. "Sorry it took so long," the piolet said, "I got held up a little ways back. My name's philtom," he said, extending a hand to the three men.

I might be a few days late, I'm transferring files off my old laptop to my new laptop.

Yeah, this belongs in Lores and Tales. You shoulda just PMed it to me, but nevermind. I'll split the topic, the story will be locked in L&T and the rest will be a discussion thread. Do you want the discussion thread to be in General (easier to find but can die) or in Lores and Tales (people don't look at it that often, but it won't die)?
