You just gotta get used to them. It took me 30 minutes to put contacts in the first time and it hurt like @#^&U**&^%$, but it worked out in the end.

(but.. if you refuse to knowingly stick them into your eyes, does that imply that you do not refuse to unknowingly do so?)

Re: The Daily Thread
If I unknowingly do something, I can't very well refuse to do it, can I? I try to avoid situations in which I may unknowingly put foreign objects in my eyes, though.
Strangely enough, though I refuse to put objects in my eyes, I'm not entirely opposed to letting people slice them or shoot them with lasers in a surgical procedure. I can't afford it right now, but when I can, I may well rid myself of these glasses some day.

Re: The Daily Thread
i've heard the laser stuff still has its problems though.. long-term repercussions that have just recently surfaced in the cases of the first people who had laser surgeries.. although i don't know anything, this is merely gossip.

I'll have to look into that sometime between now and when I have enough money. I have plenty of time.

Re: The Daily Thread
Once when I was like 5, I got some piece of sand stuck in my eyes, and it apperantly sliced my inner eyelobe or something scientific like that, and I had to wear an eyepatch like a pirate to help my eye heal. I raided and attacked all my 5 year old friends. It was quite fun.
Re: The Daily Thread
This week there's been a lot of business about this Joseph Kony guy in Uganda. He abducts children to turn them into his sex slaves and child soldiers. He makes them kill people and mutilate their faces. He's even #1 on the International Criminal Court list. But here's the thing--Kony hasn't been active since 2006, and some guy who's been campaigning for almost ten years thinks that 2012 is the year to get him arrested. Wut?
So everyone thinks they're great for liking a Facebook page about it, and you're clearly heartless if you don't.
>Mfw
I mean, I agree what he's done is awful, and I'd definitely stop it if I could, but I'm making just as much of a difference as everyone else. 'Being aware' isn't going to get most people to stop eating their breakfast and get over to Africa.

Re: The Daily Thread
Kony 2012 is a scam.
After doing some research, I found out that less than 31% of donations go to charity.
In the documentary, they contradicted themselves several times, one being them saying that Kony is America's most wanted or whatever, and yet Obama had to be persuaded to 'send troops'. If he was the most wanted, why haven't 95% of us heard of him? That's like us not hearing of, say, Osama bin Laden (whose death I don't believe)
A Ugandan girl recently also uploaded a video, and she said that Kony was NEVER mentioned in the months she'd been with her relatives there. On top of that, Uganda was "a great place, you should go visit sometime", not a living Hell for children.
I could give quite a few more examples but I'm too lazy so yeah.
also, what keja said

Re: The Daily Thread
Here's the Invisible Children's response to the criticism. I'm not posting it to agree or disagree with your points, but to make sure that their perspective is seen, too.
Anyway, today is going to be a good day, because I say so.

Re: The Daily Thread
Yeah. There has been some proof/rumor that the Uganda army already kicked him out of Uganda and he's somewhere else now. Not very sure.

The stuff AF and Amazing have posted is going around and people are reconsidering their... political activism...
But I think people should still try to help if and when they can. Simply supporting Kony 2012 is different than donating to it. I support action against Kony but I'm not doing anything about it >_>hey, remember when i said people should support the Joseph Kony fund thing? well don't. there is no point, and you are not helping, and it's a waste of your time.

Re: The Daily Thread
first kony was the worst person in the world then the people who tweeted about kony were the worst people in the world and then people will forget about kony and then once some other internet thing happens people will reference kony as that internet fad thing that didn't mean anything in the long run and then cats.
