If you like your fantasy to not be cliche, try Brandon Sanderson. His Mistborn books are amazing.
I bought his book "The Way of Kings" when he was in town to do some signing, going to read it after I finish The Wheel of Time and maybe The Song of Fire and Ice series.

Once upon a time there was a magical thing called a book. It was made out of paper, which had words on it. Crazy, right?
These books would be packed full of history, literature, and many things to learn. Before we had the Internet, people had to go to the library and read books to get information! Isn't that insane?
Worse yet, have you heard of a card catalog?
I actually haven't.

So get this: in order to find a book in one of those public libraries, they used to keep drawers and drawers and drawers full of little index cards with the author, title, and subject of each book on them. You then had to go through the drawers to identify the book you wanted, and use the Dewey Decimals from the card to find the book in the stacks.

Here's what a catalog would look like:

My wife liked that one. I haven't had a chance to read it yet.

I'm kind of glad that we don't have to use those anymore.

I wonder if there is a book about the Dewey Decimal system and taking books out of libraries.

Most likely there is.
The fun of card catalogs was the fact that the catalog system was in itself a library.. it would've been cool to make a catalog for the catalog system.

I remember when I was younger having a class in the library where they taught the card catalog and the Dewey Decimal system.

A library of library cards. Then we might need a library for cards for the library of library cards.

It was all very confusing. See, they had to have three cards for every book: one to arrange by title, one to arrange by author, and one to arrange by subject. So yes, in large libraries the card catalog was often more impressive than the library itself.

Now you just go to the computer and you click a button and the silicon chips and electron dip and such produce your books for you.

The databases are just electronic card catalogs.

If by '0 results' you mean 'ALL RESULTS' because ASDF is everything and everything is ASDF.
