Maria froze the moment she saw the man who had been trying to steal from the camp. She didn't recognize him, at least she wouldn't call it recognition. It just seemed like she had seen him several times before, in the background, here and there. She knew that they needed to stick together if they wanted to have any chance of surviving, but she just couldn't approach that man.

While everyone else was paying attention to him, she walked away, fighting every urge to run, hoping that she wouldn't be seen. She didn't know where she was going, but as long as it was away from him, she considered it a good direction.
