"They said this is the end times. They said all is dead. They said hope is lost. They are wrong. We, are the survivors, built hunched over this city of death. Striving to find something better. I am telling you, there is nothing. Do your part, survive, help others and we will make it until the end. All we have is each other. With that, we can do impossible things. Now, Good luck, Good night, Find shelter."
Striker signed himself off of the radio, spinning in his chair then looking out his window. The black sky stretched across the almost barren city. He knew there was people out there. Somewhere, trying to survive. He talked to them daily. He has seen many pass by, and has seen many die. He sighed. The purple lights of the UV lamps glowed outside his porch. He smirked. To think that these stupid creatures were afraid of this? None the matter. He turned and took a sip of his coffee.
He checked the log on his mail on the computer screen. The generator hummed in the back, irking him in every way possible. Eventually, he tuned it out. The broadband of soldiers all connected on one speaking platform used specifically for them. Designed right before the crash for earthquakes by soldiers who would need to communicate without internet or cell towers, it offered the perfect way for him to view his city without leaving his walls. He opened the first box he saw, and the most urgent. He skimmed through it.
"WHAT?!" He shouted. He turned to the door, standing and rushing to it as he entered another room with soldiers and harboring homelesses. He scanned for one man. Tyrell. The captain of the militia. He was standing in a corner, smoking a cigar and looking out the window. "TYRELL!" Striker shouted. He turned, flicking out the cigar and rushing to him. "Yeah?"
He led him to the screen. "What is this?!" He shouted. Tyrell read it too. "Now, get me some of your best on it now! This is unacceptable!" He shotued. Tyrell went into motion as Striker sat down on his bed, flicking off the lights and the glowing of the UV shining into his room. He glanced at the computer screen, then turned it off with the flip of a switch. "Jesus." He said, then laying down.
