List of Cliches

Post by Froggychum » Mon Apr 17, 2017 9:57 pm

Please only 1 per post, feel free to do as many as you want in a row
all cliches must be written in quotations
anything else you want to say (related to the cliche or other ones mentioned or otherwise) can be written out of quotations after your cliche

if you want to talk bout cliches but dont have one thats okay just write a message and leave out a cliche altogether

try not to repeat any (if this thing ever gets longer than you want to read, then this rule doesnt matter anymore because i dont think you should have to read 20 pages to post something)

anyway thats all please enjoy!

bye

"opposites attract"

im pretty sure this only true for magnets, not people

it might be true for viewing a picture with complimentary colors (what i mean is "those complimentary colors attracted me to the work!" is something that could be true)

ikr these second 2 lines are pretty stretched but lol fun anyway

last line for this post: BYE haha

"were not laughing at you were laughing WITH you"

okay if this is even true (which it normally isnt), and even then probs wrong, because for you to be laughing WITH me, id have to be laughing which IM NOT, in fact im probs crying or running away/hiding, i might of even wizzed myself. just saying thats more likely.

alright pretty specific, but thats my style i guess.

you can think of this place, as a nice place to discuss word usage and stuff, mostly in cliches ofc.

anyway this is the last one for now if i can resist the urge to post

its hard because im addicted

anyway cya

"its all fun and games until someone loses an eye"

idk i think this one has meaning but its still a cliche (or at least a common phrase)

imo there would probably be something that would ruin the fun BEFORE someone loses an eye, i mean there like this:

1. Fun
2. Less Fun
3. Boredom
4. Broken Toys
5. Bruises
6. Trauma
7. Bye bye eye
8. broken limbs
9. PERMANENT INJURIES
10. Death

bonus: 30 YEARS OF TORTURE

unthinkable bonus: Watching teletubbies for 5 minutes

so as you see there are many negative things before losing eyes

just saying

ok bye

guess i couldnt resist the urge now could I?

please anwer

lol funny

bye

Multiposting goes against the forum rules. I like the topic idea, though! Here's one:

"Two wrongs don't make a right."

Even though it's something of a cliche saying, it holds true pretty well.

"an apple a day keeps the doctor away"

Doesnt that take ALOT more?
This was probs made in the 1800s by ppl who wanted their kids to eat apples, and knew how horrible their health care was (Oh I see your on fire... well a good leach bath should do it, then a week of rolling in dogcrap)

sorry for doubleposting I wont do it again.

An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but if you don't brush and floss, you'll still be seeing the dentist fairly often.

a different kind of cliché:

in a movie or tv show, when they add ~relationship drama~ by using a typical misunderstanding such as someone seeing their partner in a situation that isn't what it looks like.

Also on the other hand, using the phrase "I can explain!" when clearly you can't, because you screwed up.

in response to the post before atom's:

haha yeah ikr, I would of preferred if you had changed "not good" to a more expressive description, you know something like "I got this from Great Value" (lol idk why im always dissing that place haha)

anyway,

"This is going to take FOREVER", or "I've been waiting for AN ETERNITY" you know hyperboles like that...

I dont have to tell why these are wrong, they just ARE. Oh, man I had to wait 3 minutes for my computer to log on, I WAS WAITING FOREVER!!!
you'd be dead long ago if that were true...

and now your gonna die VERY soon for using exaggerative hyperbole cliches with its main usage being 5 year old's who took a time out for screaming BUMHEAD at their parents because their pudding cup took to long to open.

lol screw overused hyperboles (Literary ones used in poetry are good tho, i got nothing against good writing.)

Random Fact: I once had a netbook that took 30 minutes to load Google.
cause of annoyance? ROBLOX (worst game ever, and laggy af)

and for atom:

I agree, instead of saying I can Explain!, just say "gimme a second to get my pants on, and then let me blabber about how "she came onto me" event though Ive been stalking her for 6 years, and yesterday was our honeymoon, and your pregnant, and uhhh crap im a horrible person: SUGGESTION: DONT KILL ME"

haha niiiiiiiiiice!

oh yes and: "What goes around comes around" is false.
This is false because Even if you do something bad, it might come back to haunt you, or someone might get revenge, BUT ITS NOT GONNA BE THE SAME THING probably...

Also this whol thing is false if:
1. Everyone forgets
2. You are immune
3. IT WAS ALL A DREAM

When this is true: Tetherba- DUCK!!! Oh man look behind you! haha made you look, your so stup- *smashes cranium* owww... my head hurts.

Froggychum the Second was slain by Tetherball at the age of half an hour years old. that was bad grammar, but dont blame me Im dead!

I hate that. It's ruining the latest season Flash :(

So glad Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn't pull that stuff.

Who else follows the MCU? (marvel cinematic universe)

I watched everything up to Agents of Shield season 2 i think, I just got bored and tired of watching 45 minute episodes. Ive seen ALL the movies, but timeline wise I NEED TO CATCH UP with the tv show agents of shield. Also some of the smaller things like Slingshot and stuff i havent seen.

I also havent watched the netflix properties (Too mature for me, cant watch em) probswill read about them tho

Anyway I should do a cliche:
"Turn that frown upside down"

Not physically possible.

And not really nice either, or encouraging. Its a command, and not in any way empathetic, or comofrting

stupid ppl

LOL jk

okay bye haha

I don't care much for most of it, but I really enjoyed Jessica Jones so I watched Luke Cage too and it was good.
I like that they don't wear capes and spandex.

haha yeah realism is pretty good thing to have in a show like those.

However if you've never seen Chris Evans as Captain America, then you have missed out on a great pleasure (idk but i might be gay when i look at him lol), and a great pain (realising you have to rethink your sexuality). Lol JK haha.

Louis CK the described it well, "Im gay for the best", it means Im not normally gay, but if I'm gonna be making out with Ryan Gosling, then hey i dont have aproblem.. haha agreeable at the least LOL

okay cliche: "Treat others how you want to be treated"

bullshit because if you wanna get laid, then you go around rapin people thats not really what they want.
Even in less severe cases, its still not great. It should be changed to "Treat others well, and they will treat you well too" which will probs not be true 90% of the time.
