Nah, nothing as bad as that luckily. It's just shitty code my colleagues are writing, which comparitively to much other code is pretty good I guess

Is it at least filled with comments that show their descent into coding madness and slowly giving up?

Valve's code is apparently filled with that stuff. Quite funny to read tbh

Pronouns: Well it shouldn't really be that complicated if you go over my post history but then... why are you searching through my post history? Don't you think you are over complicating something as simple as just referring to me? Why are you like this? Is it just out of boredom? Does your religion require it? You could just assume them and skip all this paragraph, don't worry an eldritch horror won't appear out of nowhere to eat you (or me for that matter) if you get this wrong, the worst that can happen is I ignore you and even in that case you can try again! There shouldn't be that many options anyway so if you get it wrong the first time try again and again. Bottom line is: you just lost a bunch of time reading this paragraph for something as trivial as figuring out how to refer to me when you could just have deduced it which should make you think your life choices so far.

you don't need the comments to see how devs descent into madness, the code quality is enough

This is the first time since this thread opened that I've been up late enough to post here.

Honestly, this thread is kind of silly and redundant, no? It's clearly a mirror to the Daily Thread, except you can't post in it unless your up at outrageously unreasonable hours (depending on your schedule ofc). Mega lame, no clap.

And yeah, I just posted here to say that this thread sucks. Deal with it (thug life), I'm sleep deprived, discriminated against, and demanding recompense (to which I won't respond until another month passes and I'm up late. Ideally it would be in the form of paypal transactions, dogecoin or raspberry lemonade, but I also accept forum smilies as a method of payment)

Also leaving silly comments in the code is a hilarious and time-honored practice that only the hardest-assed managers would outlaw at work.

My sleep schedule is finally messed up enough to post in this thread!

I hope a month isn't too long of a time to spend in exile before showing my face again after committing the cardinal sin of 'misspelling'. It just goes to show how unhealthy it is to stay up late at night.

Me and a good night's rest aren't the best team either. Which isn't great. So I can relate to messed up sleep schedules.

I tend to seem "in exile" for longer than that, I imagine. But I actually check in like.. 2 to 3 times a week. I just really don't have much to say most of the time... sooooo.... nice weather, huh?
You've been doing alright?

Haha yeah, I've been doing okay. Thanks for asking. My family is still in lockdown, but after already breaking down once (as I'm sure a lot of people have, isolation is a terrible thing) I've managed to keep my head on my shoulders by fostering a positive attitude (first time for everything I guess)

How about you? IIRC, you said you do military work? How has that been?

That's cool. I mostly look at shitty code and Azure stuff :)
is your shitty code a legacy application 10 years old that sustain the entire business of the place you work at? that's terribly obnoxious but I've learned that is also very exciting
Ah, the universal developer's experience

Well, I finished up all my required trainings and am now undergoing certification to work on my own, so that's nice.

Not much work currently though, so it's going to take a while.

I'm optimistic that we'll go back to a little bit more normalcy in the near future though.

Well, peacetime is generally a good thing, ha ha. Though, I don't think all military affairs are actual warfare.

Hear, hear! We're still waiting for our second shot, but we'll probably still be wearing masks as long as our mum is alive. Bummer.

Oh well, not like I go outside anyway :sunglassesman: :sunglassesman: :sunglassesman: #animeismoreimportantthanfriendship

We have a national holiday today in Hungary, hence the colors. Thanks, Canada! Or the USA, or whoever manages the illumination of this thing.

Several sources say the lights are managed by The Niagara Falls Illumination Board, but I cannot find anything else about the Illumination Board. Perhaps we should check with Bill.

I bet nobody is allowed to shed any light onto the workings of the Illumination Board. Other than the Illumination Board itself, of course.

light is a lie made up by Big Lamp

As a critically-thinking moth-person, I don't ascribe to the bogus belief of my ancestors, what with this whole, "Grand Luminance of Massacres" known in the ancient language only spoken by priests as "Bhugzapur"

besides, since i am posting in this thread i must be a nocturnal creature and that means i could never have experienced daytime so therefore i must be skeptical of the claim that a titanic sphere of eternal fire appears in the horizon whenever i am not looking and disappears whenever i am looking

Twilight is an unexplained phenomenon. Some occultists attribute it to the Blood Gods of Yore, but personally I think it is probably chemtrails.

You're not a moth-person, go to sleep.
You're a frog of the gychum variety, who at some point ingested a moth, which then infested your brain with moth-person thoughts. I recommend vitamin c, fluids and rest.
