Why does the force need to be balanced anyway? It's not like much anything else in the universe is symmetrical, anyway! It doesn't even make good propaganda, because you'd obviously want your side to have all the power, no?

For real, star wars has some weird ideas about balance and such. And even Jedi "philosophy" is all kinds of messed up.
i just think they are cool and fun movies for the most part.
