What can we do to revive the forum to its old glories?

did the server host change in some way when the great lord philtom forsook us and the great lord atom saved us?

Basically im wondering what our max limit would be. also did this forums ever hit a wall like that back at its peak popularity? just curious

Yeah we changed servers from philtomland to atomland.

I honestly have no idea how much it could handle. I'm not some sort of experienced sysadmin wizard. I suspect it would start to choke on hundreds of active posters, but I'm really not sure. Realistically in that case I would scramble to scale it up and upgrade things, and I'd learn a lot in the process, at the cost of some initial outages. Then I'd have to start asking for donations to keep it running.

Peak popularity was under the philtom years, but it was never a lot.
On the front page there is a line below the "who is online", that says "Most users ever online was 855 on 2014 Nov 26, Wed 11:12 am"
That was definitely not active users, it must've been some bots like search engines and spambots and whatnot.
I don't know for sure but I think the max number of active posters was always below 15.

That's really surprising. I hadn't considered it was to that extent. I figured it would be something like 20% bots, not closer to 90%...

Well I definitely agree it would be nice to have a few more active users. Though I don't even know if there would be a way to do that without risking getting *too* popular (since in terms of the internet, there is little difference between 10 ppl, 100 ppl and 1000 ppl)

I have had several (good) life changing events in the last 10 years or so. Just know the forum was a small important part at some point of my life and I do not forget it.

I did want to push it to the limits, but I ran out of steam before I could

i guess if people really push the limit it could make their posts take up too much space (just like overly large signatures), hopefully that won't be an issue

anyway now I also want to write a paragraph in there but that would be so unoriginal now

I don’t check general for ONE MONTH and VRAIMENT IS BACK?
Also if you tried to bring the forum back to it’s former glory, tons of zoomers would flood the place, posting tons of random stuff in the wrong places and complaining about the 64x64 limit on profile pics.
