(you can say bad words if you want, as long as they aren't used to summon anything non-unsummonable)

It's.. somewhat interesting.
Spoiler:
It's a cool beat and I do like the random silences. They don't do much with it though, I feel like it could've gone somewhere and then it didn't. But sometimes that's fine.

I finally did it! I followed some suggestions!

I've listened to "The Lighthouse" by Amon Tobin, "Real House" by Adrianne Lenker, "Animals" by Architects, "Bullets" by Archives and "Just Pretend" by Bad Omens.

Here's my thoughts:
- I didn't really like the Lighthouse. It was kind of funky, but I don't really like purely instrumental music.
- "Real House" was not my speed at all. I didn't like it.
- "Animals" was great! Added it to my playlist!
- "Bullets" was really good too! Added to playlist!

Now for Bad Omens in general:

THANK YOU FOR INTRODUCING ME TO THIS BAND!
These guys are incredible! I was up until 6 am listening to their music, and I now have 23 more amazing songs (so far) to listen to!
Noah has an unimaginable range!

Here's what I still have left:

I applaud your effort.

Your backlog list is long, so in case you want to make it easier I'll give you a couple of warnings:
Estradasphere, Human Bell, and Secret Chiefs 3 are purely instrumental
And Meshuggah is just very harsh, you probably won't like it at all.

I'm not sure if non-english lyrics are an issue for you (vocals are just another instrument after all, so doesn't it feel like a purely instrumental song if you don't understand it? idk)
On that regard, Al'Naito is in a fake language, Helga sings in both Swedish and English, the song Helvegen is in Norwegian, Baqczalarda is a Crimean Tatar folk song, Paradigm Shift sings in Hindi, Rammstein is in German, Sigur Rós and Sólstafir are both sung in Icelandic.

Thanks, I will remove these.

You mean like scream metal or something? Yeah, probably not.

I'll still give it a chance, though. Probably one song, whatever YouTube lists as their most popular.

I've listened to quite a number of songs with very harsh vocals (Ensiferum and BAD OMENS come to mind), but they also have some clean vocals in there. I wouldn't like a song which was entirely harsh vocals, but I don't dislike them if they aren't the only type of vocal.
I'm not sure if non-english lyrics are an issue for you (vocals are just another instrument after all, so doesn't it feel like a purely instrumental song if you don't understand it? idk)
Good point about vocals vs 'other' instruments. It makes a lot of sense to think of that way.

But for whatever reason, it doesn't bother me. I listen to a lot of songs from anime (usually in Japanese), I like the song "xue hua piao piao" which is in Chinese - and I've already listened to some nordic songs here and there (sorry, but I can't distinguish between Nordic languages due to unfamiliarity)

----
I applaud your effort.
No, I applaud yours. It was certainly less easy to write all that for me than what I did - which was simply copy and paste from this thread and organize slightly lol.

Had to check out Wardruna - Helvegen, that was really cool, bunch of old instruments and sung in nynorsk with some old norwegian (basically icelandic) at the end there I believe.

Also, I've had Meshuggah recommended by a friend before and I've listened to a couple of their songs and you're definitely correct in your statement about them.

EDIT: Also found this live version with Aurora that is fantastic!

Kamasi Washington - Prologue
i met him after a show when I was 18, very nice guy and connected to some crazy albums like kendrick's butterfly, and other brainfeeder / flying lotus projects.

Not at all surprised that Ween is showing up in this thread lmao.

I was in a short lived ween cover band and our setlist included Piss up a rope, ocean man, the argus, and one or two others I don't remember.

my favorite band is animal collective, also really enjoy salami rose joe louis currently.

I was in a tie with with Thingerdudes for Best Artist 2011, but they created these lovely banners so I'm grateful.

oh hey, another Ween fan! Personally, my favorite album is either The Pod or Chocolate and Cheese (It's hard to decide)
Anyways, onto your recommendations, I'm listening to Kamasi Washington (Prologue) as I write this and he's really good! I've been trying to find more jazz bands for a while. I'll also check out your other recommendations.

oh boy a music thread!

First off, here is a nine hour playlist I've compiled of gay country and folk punk that I recommend listening to on shuffle because I am not sifting through nine hours to properly mix the songs.

Second, this is one of my favorite songs:

Adeem the Artist's other stuff is all really good as well, they just put out a new album about a month ago and it's worth a listen.

Just listened to it, and thought it wasn't bad at all.
Not sure how much I like it personally, though. Maybe a 3/5 or 7/10. smth like that

Probably not going to touch a 9 hour playlist (XD), but I'm really happy that more progressive voices are getting into the country/folk scene.
I think that could lead to a lot of good social outcomes (visible representation for rural queer folk struggling due to ignorance regarding identity sexuality and so on, and maybe even a leftward shift in the notoriously nasty political opinions of a stereotypical country music listener - i dont have stats to back this up so this could be a true or false stereotype)

thanx for sharing :O

Thought the song was pretty cool too.
Two other Japanese songs (the song isnt actually in Japanese, but you implied its from death stranding, which I think is Japanese? Or at least, it was made by a Japanese studio...) I found are 'Wild Side' by ALI (also has English and French in it) and "Stay with Me" by Miki Matsubara (havent properly listened to this one yet but its apparently very popular)
~
I still haven't checked Ween out properly yet but apparently they wrote/performed Ocean Man? I love that song! Is their other stuff also insanely good like that? If it is, they are my next thing to look at
Also, sorry your concert got cancelled :( i can imagine that would be a huge bummer (I've never gone to a concert tho) :( Hopefully you get your money back if you already paid for tickets or whatever...
